Australia is in the middle of its worst drought on record and now catastrophic fires have ravaged Australia for months. Over millions of hectares of land has been burnt in NSW alone, and over 100 fires are still burning. It will be months after the fires before we know the full implications on our wildlife population. Ecologists at the University of Sydney estimate that over 800 million animals have already been affected in Australia since September.
WIRES is rescuing and caring for as many sick, injured and orphaned native animals as possible and we wanted to get behind this worthwhile rescue effort to support our struggling wildlife. Every little bit helps.
